It was the most peculiar request when a client contacted us asking for the remake of the “Grumpy” pie. This pie found its place in Disney’s 1937 popular “Snow White” movie when the princess made a sweet pie for her beloved dwarfs, especially dedicated to Grumpy with his name written in dough on top. The pie filling is somewhat peculiar as well, as it is made of gooseberries, a type of berry which is not particularly popular and was a challenge for us to find. The greatest challenge, however, was to do the writing in dough since we did not have little birdies to help us out.
All the hard work paid off once the pie came out of the oven smelling delightful and looking pretty. We could not wait to finish the task and taste this peculiar pie. This was the part which was the most rewarding, naturally, since the pie was incredibly delicious. The taste was the perfect combination of sweet, tangy and refreshing.
